Day 1, Glacier Hike and The wonders of the South Coast
On this day we will see the best of the best in Iceland.
We start our adventure day along the south coast of Iceland. The first stop will be at a waterfall called Seljalandsfoss, here we can walk behind the waterfall. After this amazing stop we will head towards the glacier Sólheimajökull for our private glacier hike with your glacier guide. There we will put on our glacier equipment to explore dramatic landscape, a world of blue ice and if we are lucky we might see some of Iceland’s myths or the trolls, wobbling around there.
Other stops will be at Kvernufoss waterfall, beautiful Reynisfjara beach or the black-sand beach around Dyrhólaey promontory.
Day 2, Golden Circle with locals
Today we'll start our day by warming ourselves up by dipping us into the Secret Lagoon. For lunch we will visit a greenhouse and gain insight into the processes of greenhouse horticulture. After our lunch we go and explore the hot spring area Geysir, it is indeed unique to see a geyser erupt, hot spring bubbling and beautiful baby blue water hot spring. From there we will find the famous Gullfoss waterfall. Our National Park, Þingvellir, is next on our list and we will do an enjoyable easy hike that is suitable for everyone that is capable of walking flat terrain. Þingvellir is well known in our history and is the place where the first Parliament in the world was established the year 930.
We will then end our day with a local farm visit, where we will meet local farmers and their animals and experience Icelandic traditional food.
The farmhouse restaurant is in a building that used to be a barn, which is where its name comes from; Hlaðan (The barn). The menu consists of local products from the farm and its surroundings. Eating there is more than just eating great food, it is a food experience, where you are told the story behind the dish you are being served.
